How did you find this little guy?0:29Well, I heard some noises in bush- in the bushes.0:32Right?0:32So I went out to see what it was, and I just found it.0:34A wrinkled, hunched up little brown ET.0:37It was so lost and confused, and it was talking really fast in its space language, like beep boop bop.0:42I just knew I had to help it.0:43That's great.0:44Oh, that is so sweet.0:45So you snuck it back home and you hid it in your closet for how long?0:493 weeks.0:49Wow.0:50I fed it Reese's Pieces so it wouldn't get hungry.0:52Good thinking.0:53Wow.0:55Oh, I wish I could understand you, little buddy.0:58Thomas, your parents had no idea you had this little guy hidden away under your sweaters.1:02Yeah, but one day my dad heard it making these crying sounds.1:05Uh-huh.1:05I think maybe that's how it breathes because it cries all the time.1:08Were you worried then that your parents might make you send it back1:11That's1:11to its home planet?1:12Yeah, but then I showed them how I taught it some English.1:14Oh, cool.1:15They were really impressed.1:16Oh.1:16You want to hear some English?1:17Sure, absolutely.1:19E.T. English. English.1:23Phone home.1:24Oh, look at that phone home, just like in the movie. Oh, that's terrific.1:29That's wonderful.1:30Oh. I wish you could talk people language more than just phone home, though.1:35I don't understand.1:36Yeah. Dad says I have to hide it, so if I take it outside, I always put it in my dad's clothes so it looks like a little old me.1:42What a great idea, yeah.1:43I think you brought a photo with you too. Let's... Oh, how cute!1:47Yeah, ET was supposed to make my bike fly.1:50Yeah.1:50Right.1:50But it didn't.1:51No.1:51So it fell off.1:52Oh, how disappointing.1:53It was really breathing really hard after that.1:56Oh, he's doing the finger thing. He's doing the finger thing.1:59Oh, look at that.2:03Sit, sit, sit.2:05It's okay, little buddy. Uh, Reese's Pieces and2:19Thomas, what's he doing now?2:20Oh, look at that.2:21He's been doing that a lot lately. I think it's how it communicates with its home world.2:25You know, Thomas, it must be just a tremendous responsibility to be taking care of your own ET all by your young self, right?2:33Yeah, I guess.2:34Well, maybe it would be a better idea if someone took care of it for you, and then you wouldn't have to worry anymore.2:39What do you think?2:40We've got friends here at Today Now, Thomas, that would like to come and just have a, have a little chat with your E.T.2:46All we're going to do is just ask you some questions.2:49Thomas, have a seat, have a seat. Well, I guess we all learned a very valuable lesson about friendship today, didn't we?2:58And stay with us, because coming up after the break, we're going to ask the important question: do our dogs know enough about our founding fathers?
