@Casey – Who needs monthly fees? There are HUNDREDS of free online games (mmo’s, for example). I bought my pc five years ago. I made it from the last season hardware so it was good stuff that was cheaper than the latest stuff. My PC can STILL play any game out now. Including Crysis on pimped out graphics mode ๐ Not sure about the sequel though >.> I’m still happy with my pc ๐
casey:
fuck PC. i dont got money to update my video card every 2 monthes and play monthly fees for online games.
Yet you pay a monthly or yearly fee for the Xbox live service? Also you dont need to update every 2 months, Get a decent card and that will last you a year or two. Also, Games are actually cheaper on the PC. Lower face value in shops, and also the add ons are almost always free. No having to buy stupid microsoft points. (By the way, I am an Xbox gamer too. Only because alot of my friends Have an Xbox and it can be fun. But PC gaming is still SO much better to me.)
Free mmo’s are usually pure crap, and the developers of them know this and put in tons of material to the game which is only available to those who pay anyway (runescape, flyff, R.O.S.E., etc…)
Pc gamers are those people who say they like games then you ask have they played any of your favourite games or series Gears of war, devil may cry, prince of persia, halo, super smash brawl?
The answer? -> No but i have the new expansion to sims, see now they have new shoes!

Oh? I’ve played every single one of those games, and I’m still a PC gamer. PC gamers have it made. They can CHOOSE to play games for free or subscription games. I’ll admit most free games are shit, but so are a lot of games that you pay $50-60 for when you get it for 360. You can’t try it with a torrented version either. I’ve done that and then purchased the game. Fail @ you sir.
Oh. Forgot to say, I actually liked a few of those games. Smash and DMC were damn good back in the day.
I love how they scream that PC gamers have to pay to play their games online. They forget that Live costs money, and its required to play any game online for the 360. That includes many multi-platform titles such as CoD4, which is free to play online for the PC. They also say that MMO’s cost a monthly fee. Sure its true that they do, but they also forget MMO’s tend to be PC only, and its not like its unwarranted. Most games are hosted on the persons own PC or console while MMO’s are hosted on their own servers on which 1000’s of people connect to. That requires costly equipment and loads of bandwidth to do. Then an MMO developer has to keep staff on hand to fix game problems, add content, and keep the servers up and running.
Also like stated before, content patches are free on the PC. The whole pay for DLC is purely of console origin, and is barely making it on the PC scene. Hell, battlefield 2, a game that is about 4 years old, is still getting content patches and game fixes to this day for free. It’s also free to play online, and was designed for the online crowd.
To be quite honest both sides have their faults and perks.
Yeah, PC’s can play a hell of a lot more and do it better, but there’s a lot of work to be done to get that ability. PCs have so many more places where something stands to not work: your specs aren’t quite good enough, driver issues, wrong hardware, OS incompatibility, etc. A console generally works for every game you purchase for it and if it doesn’t the company usually will fix the problem for you. Additionally, while online is free, it’s something you have to configure and set up all on your own. If you have connection issues, often times it’s on your end, not the games. Which means several hours of playing around to get the game to connect. Not to mention two of the major consoles offer free online currently (Wii and PS3). Consoles are just simply more convenient for most people to own and play games on.
Consoles though are limited to their capabilities and games released on them. You can’t really update your console’s hardware (The N64 is the only one coming to mind at the moment) so eventually when the company moves on, you have to replace. This occurs about every 4-5 years now. Consoles also generally lag behind the PC world in terms of technology released. Even at its release, a console usually isn’t even close to being up to snuff for some of the top released PC games out there at the time. Consoles also are more difficult to produce content for, since you usually need to go through a publisher, where as a PC game, anyone can post it online for people to grab and play.
All in all, it boils down to how much effort and time a person’s willing to devote to setting up and maintaining a decent PC rig. Those who don’t desire to put in that effort will sacrifice the advantages of PC for the convenience and stability of a console, and in the end everyone is still playing video games and are enjoying themselves.
Lets see do I buy a $700+ Home PC that will constantly need new graphics cards, and play games where people hack up the ass, or games that glitch. Or do I buy a console, invite friends over, and play without lag or unknown assholes.
Oh such hard decisions.
The funny bit is that everyone actually thinks one is better than the other. xD
PC pwns the RTS market because a mouse and keyboard are the pinnacle of control technology in such a setup. The mouse is more precise for the layman at FPS shot-placement but dual-analog sticks can dominate for those who invest the time in learning how.
PCs aren’t as expensive as they used to be, but when you buy a console, you don’t need to worry having to upgrade for years.
Pc gamers are those people who say they like games then you ask have they played any of your favourite games or series Gears of war, devil may cry, prince of persia, halo, super smash brawl?
The answer? -> No but i have the new expansion to sims, see now they have new shoes!
guess what kiddo. i was playing prince of persia on the pc back in the early 90’s on a 386. and gears of war came out on the pc and looked better than the 360 version. guess what else. i bet you have never played some of my favorite series. like tie fighter, stalker, carmageddon, freespace, i can sit here all day and list stuff that you have probably never played. oh and you say “those are all old games” well lets pop in some newer ones. team fortress 2, halflife 2, quake enemy territory, command and conquer, starcraft.
yes i am a pc fanboy. but for good reason. number 1 there are hundreds of developers making games for the pc not just a select few. i dont have to worry about the red ring of death. if something breaks in my pc it wont void my warrenty to open it up and figure out what broke. oh, and when im done playing my new games on pc, i can bust out the emulators and play me some old skool 8 bit consoles while i stream music from lastfm while watching a movie on my second and third monitor while using stumbleupon while torrenting some xbox games while buying new parts. and you say “pcs cost too much” well yes i do admit that my 2 video cards, 3tb of storage, quad core processor and 4gigs of ram and a purdy case did cost me quite a bit….over the course of 5 years. you can build a decent gaming rig for 500. how much did the ps3 hit the market costing people? 6-700?
basically if it were not for the pc gaming croud consoles would be still all look like the n64 and the ps1.
fuck all of your xbox 360’s. ps3 is free i dont got to pay monthly i get laid weekly and i dont have to worry about buying a new vid card every 3 months. i dont have to trash my hard drive installing games on a pc internet is free. so suck a dick. go and dick around on halo. lame ass nigga
People with sufficient money tend to own multiple consoles. So really, just bypass the whole blasted chart by making more money/saving money. And just maybe, we won’t have silly, childish flame wars.

Unfortunately, it takes a teeny tiny bit of intelligence to understand all that. It’s why people like us are always going to be in the minority ๐
Also, this flowchart is old as fuck and was stolen from somewhere or another.
Wii is fun and innovative but not as hardcore as others + free (but crappy) online
PS3 has few games but the graphics are amazing + free online
XBox360 has the best games, with great graphics, but online costs money every month
PC can have the best graphics for a price, but it’s all customizable. Customizable PC means you get what you pay for, online is generally free, and games are essentially limitless + full backwards compatibility
Now everyone shut the hell up and enjoy your video games.
Give them the space to say anything they want, and they will inevitably say something stupid.
Does it really matter what platform you use, or what game you play? The only important thing is whether or not you are enjoying it.
I play clan level FPS’s on a 2 year old PC, racing and fight sims on PS3 becuase I like them, and random wii games with my non-gamer friends @ weekend parties. They are all fun for different reasons.
There is no “best”, only the one You like the most.
xbox 360 has its things pc has its things ps3 you may not be have to pay but no real nice fps’s pc has halo custom edition which is sick and then halo has halo 3 halo wars gears of war (pc 2) and then pc has tons of other stuff thats why i have both
wow, the comment section for this is like a breeding ground for fan boys.
personally, I’m a PC gamer (with the occasional Wii title thrown in there), and when there are more then five games that I want to play that aren’t on PC, I’ll get a console.

Wow. Someone regrets buying a $600 PS2 with the money he got whoring himself to desperate older men.
“If you don’t like the console I like then you are gay and I find that a socially unacceptable sexual preference”
And of course “Halo is good”
Is Halo good? No. Is any game good? No. Whether or not it is good is purely subjective, saying that something IS good when it is subjective is just wrong.
As for the often repeated often refuted “You need to replace your gfx card every 5 minutes” — My Computer has a standard X1650, it’s about 3 years old and plays everything fine. Can it play everything on highest settings? No. Can it play everything I’ve tried on it? Yes. Sure I don’t get the best quality visuals but gameplay is far more important than what it looks like.
PC does seem, by far, the best choice for gaming. Nothing wrong with consoles, of course, but computers just allow for so much more.
I like my PS3… I don’t have to pay for my online play, I play with all of my CoD4 friends, or Warhawk, or one of the many other awesome multiplayer games.
Just saying, I feel like the PS3 users are horribly underrepresented here.
Goldenbee: Lets see do I buy a $700+ Home PC that will constantly need new graphics cards, and play games where people hack up the ass, or games that glitch. Or do I buy a console, invite friends over, and play without lag or unknown assholes.
You can build a PC that’ll run most games nowadays for $500 easy. Still a lot, but…and you really don’t need to update your graphics card that often. Mine was old when I bought it 1.5 years ago and still runs modern titles. And I find about as much lag/glitching on consoles as I do PCs, although I must say console hacking is a lot harder to do so +1 for consoles there. But that’s not a big problem anyways, just leave the game and find one without a hacker ๐
Oh such hard decisions.
boo hoo pc gamers. The truth is, console gaming will soon trump PC gaming. Personally tho, I spend less when playing “shared” games on an xbox 360 ๐ I spent $120 on the Xbox and $20 on some discs and havent spent a penny more since.
“A very simple yet acurate guide…” LOL, fail. Maybe their spelling should be moar “acurate”. Also, “liking video games” changes for different people, since some people prefer platform (like Mario) or fps (like COD). Other than that, this chart is pretty “acurate”.

I believe avoiding highly processed foods may be the first step to be able to lose weight. They will taste great, but ready-made foods have very little nutritional value, making you consume more only to have enough vigor to get through the day. If you are constantly having these foods, switching to whole grains and other complex carbohydrates will help you to have more vitality while consuming less. Great blog post.
