Two cellmates describe tattooing the whites of their eyes blue and red, explaining the painful process and why they chose the unusual body modification.
Show transcript0:01 But David Bolches took things to a level unlike anything ever witnessed by Lockup producers. 0:07 They're tattooed red, the whites of my eyes. 0:11 Why? 0:12 I don't know if you can really ask why. It's really the question is why not? 0:26 Everybody's got tattoos, everybody's got stretched ears, everybody's got this and that. 0:32 You never see anybody with the whites of their eyes tattoo. 0:35 Except for Bulchers' cellmate, Paul Inman. 0:39 It's like the final frontier. Nobody's got it done. I had blue eyes, so I chose blue. 0:45 I thought it would be a good combination between a dark blue and black. 0:49 I thought black would be a little scary, so I went with dark blue. 1:04 Instead of being one in a billions of people in the world, you could be like the fifth or sixth person in the world to be like that. 1:12 That's pretty amazing, and I'll bet you there's no one in the world that has the same color eyes as I do. 1:19 Neither of the cellmates would reveal how they tattooed their eyes or how they managed to create the colored ink. 1:26 I can't really say the process, but I do know that it is painful a lot, and you don't use a conventional tattoo gun or a homemade tattoo gun because there's a layer you got to get in between that layer, 1:36 so you can use a hypodermic needle, but I ain't saying that's what we used. 1:44 We call my Sully hamster, but he's more like a guinea pig. 1:49 So you can take it any way you want, you know, he was the first one, and uh, he lived through it, so we went on with it. 1:57 I just wanted to do a little dot, you know, to see what it was like, and it spread through half my eye, and I was like, well, it's a little late for doing a little experimentation now. 2:06 I got half of it done, might as well go all the way. 2:09 Took a couple more weeks and went all the way, and now... 2:14 they're red. 2:17 I will say this, you have to be committed. If you decide to do this, it's not a, it it it it hurts, it takes some time, and you got to be serious about doing it. 2:28 You really do. 2:29 It's painful. It's like somebody was taking hot ice picks and like stabbing the back of your eyes sometimes if you hit the wrong spot. 2:37 They're done now, so I ain't got to worry about no more pain. 2:40 They, I don't get no complications in vision. I go, I don't see no red. 2:44 It's all just perfectly fine. 2:48 I wasn't scared to do it. I'm, I don't know, I live in balls to the wall theory, you know.
