Show transcript0:07Our next guest is a true American hero, and he's only 8 years old.0:12Last week, Lucas Armitage bravely defended his family and his home when he stopped an intruder all by himself, just by using his daddy's gun.0:19That's right, and Lucas and his dad Jack are with us in the studio this morning.0:23Good morning to both of you.0:24Hi, guys.0:24Good morning, Tracy.0:25Now, Lucas, can you tell us what happened?0:27I heard the noise, and I got up from bed and went into the kitchen to where dad keeps the gun.0:32So you found it all by yourself, right?0:34I take it out a lot. Sometimes I just look at it.0:36Right now, it was a burglar, wasn't it, Lucas? He was trying to steal things.0:41He looked hungry. When he saw I had the gun, he put his hands up and said, please don't shoot.0:46But you didn't listen to him, did you?0:48I knew it would be easy to shoot him. Just aim and pull the trigger.0:51Mm.0:51That's right.0:51And that's exactly what you did, right?0:53You shot him in the leg, didn't you? You put one right through the kneecap, right?0:56Yeah, it was like bang really loud, and he fell down screaming, and there was lots of blood coming out.1:01Lucas, you really are a hero.1:02He started crawling away and crying, so I shot him in the back.1:05Yeah, you must be so proud of your son, Jack.1:07Oh, of course.1:07And then I stood over him1:08Who wouldn't be?1:08and shot him like bang, bang.1:10Back.1:10Well, that's one crook that's not gonna be breaking into anybody else's home, is he?1:14Yeah. He wouldn't stop talking, so then I shot his jaw off.1:17Well, how'd you manage1:17Yeah.1:18to do that, Lucas?1:19Either you shoot at the temples and pull down, or you shoot at the side of the skull wall.1:22It's the weakest part of the skull, he's right.1:24That's very sophisticated knowledge there.1:26Yeah, but then he started screaming.1:28Yeah, right.1:29And then I shot off each one of his fingers, and then he stopped screaming.1:32So, Jack, it was the screaming you heard that woke you up so you could call the police?1:35No, no, actually it was, uh, Lucas laughing that woke me up.1:38I had never heard the kid laugh so hard.1:40There was blood all over me.1:42Yeah, he smeared it all over himself.1:44Really?1:44I liked the way the blood made me feel.1:46Oh!1:46Now, your school gave you a special award for courage, right?1:49Mm.1:49We have a photograph of that award ceremony.
