Maury: She is afraid of pickles. I mean, the whole world eats pickles. But it's ruining her life. She's teased in school. And she of course, in school was called the pickle girl, you know, once you know. This is what the sight of a pickle does to Mariah. Mariah: My name is Mariah. I hate pickles. I hate everything about pickles. They are destroying my life. People make fun of me and feel ashamed that I'm afraid of them. I think about pickles, I just want to throw up and run away. What I hate most about a pickle is the shape, the texture of it, the color. Maury: We wanted to see firsthand the extent of Mariah's pickle phobia. So we sent her to the Paterson Pickle Factory, where she would come face-to-face with thousands upon thousands of pickles. Mariah: I don't want to see them. I don't want to see them going. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want to see them. I don't want to see them going. I don't want. I don't want to see. I don't. Oh my God, it's making me, it's making me sick to my stomach. Please, just want to leave. Maury: When did this all start? Mariah: When I was really little. I couldn't stand them. Maury: You couldn't stand them? Mariah: No. Maury: Well, a lot of kids don't like pickles, and they just don't like pickles, but they they don't look, I mean, just because I you they don't do this. Huh? You've got to get over this, right? Huh? Mariah: I used to. Maury: Stop it. Stop shaking. Mariah: I can't. Maury: And you're a waitress? Mariah: Yeah. Maury: In a restaurant? Aren't there pickles around? Mariah: Yeah, but I I am nowhere near them. Maury: You're nowhere near them? Mariah: No, I'm not. No. Maury: What happens if somebody wants a pickle? Mariah: That's too bad. Maury: That's too bad. Right? Mariah: Too bad. Maury: You won't give them a pickle? Mariah: No. Maury: What what what do you say what they say I want a pickle. What do you? Mariah: Too bad, we don't have any. Maury: Okay. If they want a pickle, they go back and get it themselves. I'm not getting them a pickle. Maury: But you're the waitress. Mariah: So. Maury: Shakia and Louise have confronted their phobia. They didn't like it. You're going to have to confront yours. You got to see a pickle. Mariah: No. Maury: Can we have a pickle, please? Mariah: No. Maury: Or two, or 10. Maury: Mariah. Maury: Where's Mariah? Maury: I don't have anything. I don't have I don't have anything. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Maury: You just you have to confront them. You know, Gary's going to have to, you know, he has to understand where you're coming from, all right? Okay, let's go back up. Let's go back on. Maury: You don't like the smell of pickles either, do you? Mariah: No. Maury: Here's your shoe. Maury: Where's your where about the other shoe? Mariah: I don't know. Maury: Where's your other shoe? Maury: Take it. We're taking them away. Mariah: I don't want them. Maury: Will we get our other shoe, please? Is it up here? Maury: We'll get the shoe. Maury: There's your other shoe. Maury: Pickles? Pickles? Mustard? Bird? I wonder what's next. We'll be back right after this.
