Show transcript0:05What are you gonna get?0:07I don't know, everything looks so good. It looks so good because I make it look good.0:12My name is Sean, S-J-A-N. I'm a food photographer for one of the big 3, IHOP, Norms, Denny's, and today we're working on an IHOP project.0:21This is for their new green apple pancake line, so I want to show you my studio so you can see how I roll.0:26Come on in. Okay, so we're in a hot set right now. This is a hot set.0:32We're gonna make things happen for IHOP here. As you can see, we have the set dressed.0:37This is IHOP's new green apple pancake, and I'm gonna need a fresh apple slice for the top.0:42Blaze, please. These are my assistants, Blaze and Blue. I don't know their real names.0:47I don't care. Uh, looks good, guys. Okay, we can work. Camera?0:52We are set. All right, this is hot. Okay, guys, on one.0:58And one.1:07Right now we're watching the boys give the green apples a nice sheen.1:12I use rose water for this. I find that that's the most effective.1:16It gives it the most comfortable look, I think. The reason I work a lot for the Big 3 is because I'm a very spiritual photographer, and I use a lot of different cameras, for instance,1:29and I also have always believed that even inanimate objects have souls, and that's why when I'm shooting food, I scream at it.1:53So I wanted to show you a little bit of my work. Uh, what we're looking at now is the IHOP menu.1:57I was in charge of the kids corner section, and you can see I did the funny face and the kids chicken strips there and how they're lit and everything, and that was when I first started working with Blue and Blaze.2:09Um, okay, turn.2:12Okay, now we're on to a different one. This is a small little cafe in downtown, and then I did some got something from another one of the big three.2:20This is the Norms, and I did their specialty section.2:22What sets Sean apart from all the other photographers is after every shoot, we have a roller disco.2:34Lately, a lot of food photographers from South Korea and Japan have been coming over, and they're doing stuff with sushi that I just can't figure out.2:41I do not know how to light rice and seaweed correctly. These guys are non-union, and as you know, in Los Angeles, when an IHOP or a Norms goes down, a sushi place just comes right up in its place,2:51and that's what these guys are taking advantage of. This has led me into a bout of depression that I don't know if I can get out of.2:58It's been like for weeks now. All I want to do is sleep. All I want to do is just think about darkness.3:03All I want to do is just be alone.
